Welcoming Maa Durga – Idol making at Kumartoli Kolkata

Durga Puja – Big Celebration Time all over India and especially in West Bengal.

The festive season starts with the Ganpati Bappa Maurya in August/September  in Maharashtra and end up with Diwali in October/November every year.

Durga Puja is one of the major festival celebrated with joy all over. This is the time when you dont get any train tickets or flight tickets to and fro from Kolkata. During the 5 days of festivals every one comes out on the streets in their bestest clothes and joyous moods.

The advent of these celebrations is just after the festival of colours – Holi when the Kumhars – clay artists in Kolkata at Kumartoli begin their quest of making of the thousands of Durga Idols.

With this effort I am trying to capture the making of the idols at Kumartoli and pay my respect to Maa Durga.

May Maa Durga bless you all.
